Legal & General Portfolio Bond

If you're looking to save long-term, perhaps for a child's university education or to build a nest egg for the future, and you want plenty of choice, Legal & General's Portfolio Bond could be just what you're looking for.

You can invest in corporate bonds, gilts, unit trusts, commercial property, company shares and many other types of investment. And you have the advantage of having all your investments held together which means you can track them easily.

Plus, you have the reassurance of expert advice from Legal & General, whose consultants will help you choose a fund or selection of funds which matches your attitude to risk.

The Portfolio Bond can offer this wide choice of funds because it gives you access to both Legal & General's own fund options as well as funds offered by other fund managers through The Investor Portfolio Service.

Things you should be aware of

  • The Portfolio Bond has no specific end date but you should be prepared to invest for at least 5 years, ideally longer. You should not invest for the short term.
  • The value of the investment, and any money you take to provide you with an income, may go down as well as up.
  • Capital in the bond and the returns you receive are not guaranteed and you could get back less than your original investment.
  • An early surrender charge applies if you need to cash in all or part of your bond at any time in the first 5 years.
